Intensive outpatient program for 18+ includes thorough assessment and 15-20 hours of weekly intensive treatment through a state licensed program

Family Psychiatry is proud to offer intensive outpatient programs (IOP) that provide treatment for emotional, behavioral and/or chemical dependency (substance abuse) problems starting in June 2014.

This program is less intensive than partial hospitalization but is more intensive than traditional outpatient therapy. It is designed to provide stabilization and resolution of immediate problem areas.

We consider family participation to be a vital link in treatment and follow-up care, referring professionals are also invited to participate in treatment. With the patient’s permission, these professionals are continually updated on the patient’s progress and the individual is referred back to the professional for continued follow-up care.

Medication management

Our providers understand the importance of accurately diagnosing and treating mental health issues in both children and adults.  As part of our multi-disciplinary treatment approach, we offer a full range of psychiatric services, including psychiatric consultation and ongoing medication management for a range of concerns. When appropriate, a Family Psychiatry provider will prescribe medication as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.  In many instances, patients struggling with emotional or behavioral issues respond best to a treatment plan that incorporates both medication and counseling.

Individual, couples and family therapy

Therapy services are designed to help children and adults deal with a variety of issues affecting their lives such as anxiety, depression, life changes, behavior problems, trauma, grief or loss, ADD/ADHD, sexual abuse, physical abuse, relationship difficulties, divorce adjustment problems, parenting issues, etc.

Our clinic uses a variety of treatment methods and techniques that research shows are effective.  We work from an assumption that all human beings have strengths and weaknesses and we build on those strengths to enhance the person in order for them to fully develop into the person they want to be. All sessions are confidential; no information will be given to anyone without your specific written request. Sometimes individual therapy is most helpful when a person is experiencing distress internally, couples therapy is helpful when two people are experiencing discord between them, and family therapy is helpful when one or more members of a family are being impacted by another family member.

Career counseling

Mental health issues can often impact professional and educational options for both adolescents and adults. At Family Psychiatry, we take a comprehensive view of treatment for our patients, including discussions and counseling related to their gainful employment, professional development and long-term occupational goals.
